Do you know that Asheville, NC is officially “Bee City USA”? Launched in 2012, the Bee City USA program endorses a set of commitments, defined in a resolution, for creating sustainable habitats for pollinators, which are vital to feeding the planet. We were brought on board to produce a short video about the collaboration between Director Phyllis Stiles, along with Carl Chesick of the Center for Honeybee Research and the Renaissance Asheville Hotel.
Located in the heart of downtown, the Renaissance has sponsored working beehives on the roof of their building. They also worked Nina Veteto of Monarch Rescue to plant pollinator-friendly native plants around the property, which is now a part of the Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail!
“Climate Listening Project: Pollinators and Community” will launch during Global Day of Discovery, when guests and the local community are invited to attend exclusive hotel events and venture into the neighborhood to experience hot spots for food, bars, nightlife and entertainment. Each hotel’s experience will be curated by their lifestyle concierge – The Navigator.
